As I recently wrote, even after two and a half years, I’m still mourning the loss of Bite Beauty’s original formula Agave Lip Mask.

It’s not uncommon for people to find a beauty, skincare, or haircare product they love, only for it to be snatched away by a reformulation, discontinuation, or otherwise.

I asked the BuzzFeed Community what products they had to say goodbye to, and what they ended up replacing them with.

It turns out a lot of them still have yet to find anything comparable, so if you have any recommendations for the unfortunate souls below, shout them out in the comments.

1.“For me it was the L’Oreal Everpure co-wash that seems to have been discontinued. I’ve since found another product at Walmart called Hairitage Double Down by Mindy McKnight that I love, but it can be hard to find in stock.”
2.“I switched from Lanolips to the Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm. I apply it twice a day and haven’t had chapped lips in the years I’ve been using it. I have food allergies that cause my lips to swell and crack, and the Lippe Balm soothes and rehydrates within a day.”
3.“A gazillion years ago (ok, fine, closer to 20), American Airlines partnered with Jo Malone for their in-flight travel kits. They contained a tinted moisturizer that TO THIS DAY I have not been able to replicate or replace.”
“It was never streaky, super moisturizing, and had juuuust enough coverage to make me look mildly more tan and less ghost-like, but still sheer enough that you didn’t get the line demarcation between your face and your neck.
Seriously, I will buy a lifetime supply of this stuff, if I can ever get my hands on it again. So. Good.”

4.“I used to use Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer. It was the only primer that has EVER made my large pores look smaller because it had a thick consistency that actually filled my pores. It was too expensive to keep buying because I used it up quickly. I searched FOREVER and have tried ALL the ‘pore fillers’ and ‘minimizers.’ All of them. Save yourself some time and effort and take my advice…”
“…NYX Pore Filler actually works exactly the same!! ❤️❤️
NYX is just an overall good brand with affordable prices. I’ve practically switched over to them completely.”

5.“If anyone has a good replacement for the Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo they recently discontinued, you will be my favorite person ever. I’m so sad they stopped making it. :(“
6.“Zia Skin Basics Everyday Moisturizer — I still haven’t really found a replacement. It was just the right weight; I tend toward dry skin, and my skin loves ingredients like jojoba oil and shea butter, but if I use dry skin formulas, I wind up looking greasy, and lighter things just leave my skin tight and dry.”
“And my skin hates much silicone, which the vast majority of moisturizers contain as a high percentage ingredient; to complicate it even further, I’m mildly allergic to most chemical sunscreens (I have to use mineral-based), which rules out even more.”

7.“DevaCurl, for sure. There’s been a ton of stories on it; it was a curly girl’s holy grail, but gradually started making a lot of people’s hair (including mine) fall out. I now just use brands I get at Target; Kinky Curly is a particular fav.”
8.“GrandeLASH. It really worked wonders, but after all the alleged side effects went viral during the lawsuit, I had to stop. My lashes are still pretty long months later, and Lash Princess by essence makes them look longer and fuller.”
9.“I still can’t find a good replacement for the Milk Makeup Kush Lip Balm. 😢 I would buy three at a time to keep in my desk, purse, and vanity, and when I went to buy one recently, they told me the company discontinued them! I’ve tried Bite and Laneige, and neither compares to the Milk one.”
10.“Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion always made my skin so silky and smooth, but my dermatologist told me the alcohol causes early aging and wrinkles, so I quit buying it. I know they have an alcohol-free version, but I don’t like it quite as much. :(“
11.“Not as much a product as a scent: the VS Madagascar Vanilla Flower lotion. Was an amazing smell. :(“
12.“I used to swear by Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream. I really noticed a reduction in fine lines and dark circles for the first 6-9 months I was using it. Then after that, I stopped noticing any changes, and my under-eye area became quite sensitive. I switched to a few other ‘holy grail’ products with retinol to no avail. I’ve realized my under eyes are just too sensitive for retinol. Now I use LilyAna Naturals Eye Cream, and it gives me really good results with no sensitivity. Nothing like the first few months of the retinol one, but I do notice a reduction in the dark circles and fine lines when I’m consistent with it.”
13.“Literally any expensive foundation. Maybelline Super Stay Longwear Foundation is literally the best full-coverage matte foundation I’ve ever tried.”
14.“I tried CeraVe’s foaming cleanser and AM/PM face lotions. I have sensitive skin, and my dermatologist recommended them as the only basic staples I would need in my skincare routine. I am always seeing their products on best-of lists, but they just didn’t work for me. My rosacea looked worse, and my skin was really rough looking. I switched to Cetaphil (the cleanser for sensitive skin and their hyaluronic acid moisturizer) and had much better results!”
